At the Gourmesse with Marcel Skibba

Tour de Suisse: Together with Marcel Skibba in the Food Truck.

Enjoyment, conversation and inspiration – this is the motto of Zurich’s Gourmesse gourmet fair. And this year once more, it certainly delivered on its promises. As part of the Gourmesse’s 25th anniversary celebrations, numerous guests appeared, looking forward to an enjoyable evening. And they weren’t disappointed – far from it! Culinary highlights were provided by top chef Marcel Skibba, who is head chef at the “Igniv” restaurant in the Alpine resort of St Moritz. He prepared an impressive buffet of appetizers in the Food Truck to mark the opening of the Gourmesse fair. Wonderfully simple, with spontaneity, improvisation and lots of direct customer contact – this atmosphere added a touch of rock ‘n’ roll to the culinary event. Just how a Food Truck event should be!

Leading chef Marcel Skibba was obviously very much at home in the Food Truck, and enthused the guests who had been invited to the opening with his extremely accomplished creations. His three canapés were of the finest quality, and he once again demonstrated his breathtaking culinary skills. Every single dish was a masterpiece. And the dish of the evening was…? Difficult to say – they were all extremely impressive. With customary precision, he first of all created some sophisticated hummus rolls, then surprised guests with his beautifully presented steamed buns, and rounded off the buffet with a steak tartare. What a successful and magnificent opening to this year’s Gourmesse!

The unsophisticated, relaxed ambiance among the invited guests led to numerous spontaneous and interesting conversations. Marcel Skibba was delighted with the extremely positive and personal feedback and particularly with this direct customer contact. The evening was a resounding success for all who attended. And by the end of the evening one thing was clear: haute cuisine can be gloriously down-to-earth and extremely straightforward!
