A gloriously sunny day, colourful dishes, beautifully prepared tables and happy guests – a wonderful sight. The first official stop on the Tour de Suisse with our Food Truck took place at the Steinhalle restaurant, just outside the old town of the Swiss capital Bern. Markus Arnold’s “Steinhalle” restaurant is a themed restaurant, café and meeting point all rolled into one, and offers excellent tasty food, personal service and a dynamic atmosphere. The perfect place for the first stop with our Food Truck, which we use for special culinary outings. Together with leading guest chef Tanja Grandits, Markus Arnold delighted the numerous guests with flavourful creations. The tasty greeting from the Food Truck in the form of a buffet of appetizers was a successful start to a perfect evening.
With customary precision and skilled craftsmanship, proceedings continued in the Steinhalle kitchen. Tanja Grandits and Markus Arnold each created four different courses. Despite the two leading chefs’ different culinary focuses, it was surprising how well the individual dishes harmonized with each other. Tanja Grandits, with her fondness for the world of flavours, excited guests with a trout dish, her Alpine potato and egg creation, pork belly and a dream dessert made of raspberries and almonds. In contrast, Markus Arnold, who is known for his modern gastronomical interpretations, spoiled guests with his sea bass ceviche, tasty fresh rolls, charcoal-grilled asparagus and a refreshing strawberry and yoghurt dessert.
The two top chefs created moments of pure pleasure and inspiration, and there were enthusiastic faces to be seen all round. The relaxed, informal atmosphere was fertile ground for many fascinating conversations, and the evening’s conclusion in the Steinhalle’s breathtaking gardens rounded off the event to perfection. A wonderful way to welcome the summer!
