V-ZUG, the Swiss manufacturer for an enjoyable life, has appointed Jan Hartwig of the “Atelier” restaurant at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich its new brand ambassador. With 3 stars in the Michelin Guide and 18 GaultMillau points, the 36-year-old is one of Germany’s best chefs.

In Jan Hartwig, Swiss kitchen appliance manufacturer V-ZUG has appointed a brand ambassador who, despite receiving the highest accolades in all the main gourmet guides, has kept his feet firmly on the ground. A native of Lower Saxony, Hartwig comes from a family of restaurateurs: his parents run a forest inn near Braunschweig.

The 36-year-old says that he is driven by “passion and a love of the profession”. Even when he’s serving up turbot, Wagyu beef or Challans duck breast, he says, good cooking is not about luxury ingredients or a sophisticated ambiance. What matters most to Jan Hartwig is the personality of the chef, who should inspire his diners with exceptional skill and excellent taste.

In 2014, Jan Hartwig took over the “Atelier” at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich and, virtually overnight, transformed it into a leading destination on the German restaurant scene: 3 stars in the Michelin Guide, 18 points in GaultMillau, 10+ pans in Gusto and a 5 F rating by Feinschmecker are the outer signs of its success.

What unites Jan Hartwig and V-ZUG is a passion for outstanding craftsmanship. In Hartwig’s kitchen, the search for the best possible result often lasts weeks or months, and the likeable chef refuses to be constrained by conventions of any kind. The result is a cosmopolitan, contemporary cuisine which embraces both Asian flavours and culinary ideas from the Mediterranean or products from Bavaria.

V-ZUG is the leading Swiss manufacturer of kitchen appliances, with a history stretching back more than 100 years. Its production facility is in the town of Zug in the heart of Switzerland: “Swiss Made” is a promise and a guarantee of the special quality which customers can expect of the manufacturer.

Jan Hartwig is the latest ambassador to collaborate with the Lifestyle by V-ZUG label which, for the last ten years, has been partnering with top chefs including Andreas Caminada, Tanja Grandits and Franck Giovannini from Switzerland, Ryan Clift from Singapore and Anton Schmaus from Germany. In their restaurants, the top chefs use combi-steam cookers and other appliances by V-ZUG and inspire their fans with ideas and recipes which they can try out at home.
