Ingredients

  • 500g wheat flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 60g sugar
  • 250ml milk, lukewarm
  • 100g butter
  • ¾ of a yeast cube (around 30g)
  • 1 egg
  • Different varieties of nuts, dried fruits and sugar crystals

Preparing

Mix the flour with the salt and sugar. Melt the butter in the lukewarm milk and dissolve the yeast in it. Knead everything (apart from the eggs) into a smooth dough. Leave to rise for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cut fun animal shapes from the dough (e.g. using a pair of scissors to score hedgehog spines). Decorate with the nuts and dried fruits or sugar crystals. Leave the finished animals to rise for another 20 minutes. Whisk the eggs and brush on the animals. Bake on the Hot Air setting at 210 °C for 15 minutes.
